Wildheart leads Crestwood's first ever bat survey demonstration at Whitecliff Park

Whitecliff Park, situated in Crestwood, Missouri, contains a large woodland, an abandoned stone quarry, and multiple water resources. It is surrounded by residential subdivisions, but at its heart, it has a mixture of resources suitable for supporting wildlife. It made us wander - do bats live in the park?

So last September, Wildheart worked with the City of Crestwood to put on the very first Whitecliff Park bat survey demonstration to document bat presence and diversity in the park.

Volunteers set up mist nets throughout the walking paths in the park and captured five big brown bats during the survey. The survey attracted many local families interested in bats, and everyone learned something about the local bat diversity in St. Louis. The event was such a hit, Wildheart will be back in May 2018 for a second survey!
