Clifftop Bat Survey and Published Article on Monroe County, Illinois Bats

During summer 2019, Wildheart teamed with Clifftop, a non for profit organization whose mission is to promote the conservation, preservation, and protection of the Mississippi River bluffs corridor in Monroe, Randolph and St. Clair Counties (http://www.clifftopalliance.org/).

Wildheart conducted a bat survey at the Paul Wightman Subterranean Nature Preserve, which is a property that Clifftop worked hard to preserve. The 535 acre Paul Wightman Subterranean Nature Preserve occurs on the sinkhole plain in rural Fults IL, and was acquired in late 2013 by Clifftop. Clifftop spend many volunteer hours restoring the site to the beautiful property it is today (http://www.clifftopalliance.org/2018/07/plans-moving-forward-at-clifftops-paul-wightman-subterranean-nature-preserve/). The site is open to the public and contains a great number of beautiful trails and prairies worth exploring for hours and hours.

As part of the survey effort, Wildheart contributed an article to Clifftop and Monroe County Independent on local bats, which can be found here:
